Anonymous asked: Is it considered cultural appropriation for a white person to wear ear weights in their stretched ears? (And I mean plain brass ones that aren't specific to any one culture.) I've always wondered since a multitude of cultures wear them for different reasons...

OK, specifically on stretched ears:

Europeans in the Americas and elsewhere have violently repressed cultural self-representation, forcing people to stop stretching their ears, tattooing, wearing traditional clothing, etc.

Where I’m from, stretched ears are culturally and religiously significant. Europeans forced us to stop adorning ourselves in these ways. If white people now want to take up these exoticized practices for their own bodies, fuck them.

All white bodies are disgusting because of what colonialists like them did and do to colonized bodies like ours. Stretching your ears isn’t going to change that, it only makes you more repulsive.
